SUNKEN CAGES
Born in India and based in New York, Ravish Momin is the educator, producer and drummer behind Sunken Cages. After leading the jazz band Tarana for years, Sunken Cages went solo to master the percussions, whether electronic or acoustic, layering and manipulating loops in real time to create new textures. Influenced by Indian folklore, black music and rituals of all kinds, as well as global dance music like Gqom and kuduro, the artist stood out in 2021 with a first album on the prestigious On The Corner label ; When The Waters Refused Our History is a true meeting point between history, traditional instruments and Hindu ritual songs. In addition to his solid experience as a musician, Sunken Cages regularly feeds his experience with collaborations, for example with the Haitian percussionist Val Jeanty on the Turning Jewel Into Waters project, or with the Ethio-American saxophonist Dragonchild.

In the wake of his recent remix of “My Favorite Stranger” for Depeche Mode, Sunken Cages gathers three remixers around the mystical, hypnotic and percussive “Tofhaa”, originally released on the ACIL compilation, supporting the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, at the initiative of Radio Chiguiro Records.

MAKOSSIRI
Kenyan DJ and producer, Makossiri pushes the boundaries of club music, filling it with cinematic atmospheres, inflating it with hardcore and industrial techno, and injecting African polyrhythms and post-punk energy. Released on Hakuna Kulala, her debut EP Juicy Juicy is a perfect representation of her avant-garde music, also influenced by Egyptian mythology and Afro-futurism philosophy.

ANKLE MOTION
Ankle Motion recently started his solo electronic project, after releasing 5 albums as a drummer and singer of the metal-blues band Red Mourning, where the harmonica meets hardcore spirit. Influenced by his metal background, he recently showcased his natural skills, enhancing Cedric Evans’ single “Soul”, with a first spontaneous, melancholic and ethereal remix for Radio Chiguiro Records.

DEBMASTER
Berlin-based, French beatmaker Debmaster was a humble bedroom producer until he was spotted in 2015 by Nyege Nyege Tapes, who asked him to produce “some beats” for artists in residence in Kampala. Today he is the producer behind some of the most massive releases of the label and its Hakuna Kulala sub-division, offering his unique experimental productions to avant-garde rappers like Ecko Bazz, Biga Yut, Ratigan Era, Aunty Rayzor, and of course MC Yallah, with whom he regularly shares the stage.
