Radio Chiguiro Records heads towards the power of South African gqom by signing Shishi, a young producer who shares his enlightened vision of the genre in a soulful EP entitled Aftermath.

The love of music has always flowed through Shishi's veins, despite a father convinced that electronic music is related to drugs. Dreams being stronger than anything, his brother DJ Bomza breaks through on the gqom scene and thus becomes a major influence for Shishi, who decides to follow on his heels. Busy with a job that requires him to be on the road, Shishi nevertheless finds time to produce mixtapes for his personal enjoyment. Solicited on social networks by friends wishing to own these pieces, the young rookie decides to get a move on: “when we were stuck during the lockdown two years ago, my brother taught me the basics of production, showed me how to use the softwares, and the rest is history!”

From his neighborhood of New Brighton in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth, the South African artist produced a four- track EP for Radio Chiguiro, in this extremely popular local style that is precious to him: "gqom is a style that definitely
represents me in terms of vibe and energy".

Supported by big names like Younger Ubenzani and AngazZ on the strategic side of production, he teams up here with other emerging talents from his neighborhood. Ready for the fight, Dankie Tournie, Nyuka Nalo Rec. or DJ Pelco and Kingshesha join the party and back up Shishi to produce “Sky”, “Here to Stay” and “Killshot” three energetic tracks that stand out thanks to emotional EDM synths and sassy basslines. Alone in charge, he increases the tension with the heady loops of "Jika" to balance this Aftermath EP somewhere between dream and dystopia.
